Religious Education Program

Dear Families,

Welcome to Corpus Christi Parish Religious Education Program.  Our mission is to share our Catholic faith and the love of Jesus Christ to all the children and families in our parish.   Along the journey we will follow in the footsteps of Jesus as we answer his call to become his disciples.   The National Directory for Catechesis gives us six tasks to achieve this process of ongoing Faith Formation which include:

        Knowledge of Faith                Liturgical Understanding

       Moral Formation                      Prayer

Community and Parish Life      Missionary Spirit

All of the Religion textbooks used in our parish have included a grade level developmental process of these six tasks of Catechesis.  Not all at once… but gradually as we grow, learn, share and live our Catholic Faith together in the community of Corpus Christi Parish.

2020/2021   Program Guidelines

The pandemic has delivered much change, anxiety, and uncertainty in our lives.  With the help of the Holy Spirit, Faith Formation in our parish will continue to move  forward.  We will be offering two options this year.

  1. Blended Program – for children in grades 1 to 6 and 7 – 8.  This program will involve three components:
  • Attendance at  in person* classes grades 1-6 on Sunday mornings (1 x month)                             grade 7-8 Monday evenings (1 x month) Broken into two sessions – time to be determined
  • Remote online work with each chapter assigned
  • Work completed at home with parental assistance done during month on own time

From October to April Grade 1 to 6 will complete one unit each month (3 chapters)                                                                        Grade  7 – 8  will complete 2 chapters each month

  • Masks must  be worn at all times Social distancing must be maintained.  In case of future lockdown or restrictions additional virtual classes will replace in person sessions.  Location of in-person classes to be determined.
  1. Home School Program  -  For children in grades 1 to 8.  This will be similar to our program for the last few years.  Parents take the major responsibility for teaching the lessons and turning in the chapter reviews on time.  A packet with textbook and instructions will be given outlining the directions and work to be completed.  Four Gatherings, during the year (by grade level) will be done using “Zoom”.  A parent must be present to attend the ZOOM gatherings.

Teen Ministry

The Assumption - Corpus Christi High School Teen Ministry leads teens closer to Christ and offers them a place where they will be accepted unconditionally. The Teen Ministry at Corpus Christi includes a weekly Life Teen Mass (Sundays, 6:00 p.m. in the Church). The gatherings move between Assumption and Corpus Christ Parish. While attending Life Teen events, teens build relationships with each other and learn about such topics as morality, family life, and the Eucharist.
